The application form allows you to:
1. Provide us with your name and home town. With your permission we will enter this in our "Top Carbonought" competition.
2. Select a username. This allows us to credit you with your offsets. Also, if you recommend someone to our project and they enter your username as referrer, their offsets will be added to your total also, for our monthly competition.
The member with the largest number of offsets on last day of each month will receive a prize of 50 offsets, which you can use towards your personal targets or sell to other members.
3. Calculate your personal emissions - The DEFRA (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) web site, link below, is the definitive tool for calculating your carbon emissions. You may wish to do the calculation yourself or we will do them for you. In your welcome email we will request details of your gas and electricity bills and for calculating car emissions, annual milage and MPG (Miles per gallon). These are not essential. We can still complete the calculations without them. If your targets change, for example if you wish to offset holiday travel, let us know and we will add them to your Account. We also provide you with the option to buy and sell offsets, should you exceed your personal requirement.
If
you will assist us in promoting our project, when you achieve the
target of offsetting the carbon emissions from your car, we will send
you a sticker
to
display.
4. Indicate your preferred supplier of offsets or the geographical location and type of company so that we can provide a selection for you.
