We owe our current prosperity to the availability of energy on tap. Until replacements are found, we will be unable to completely eliminate our dependence on coal, gas and oil. Carbon offsetting is a process for compensating for our greenhouse gas emissions, in addition to our ongoing efforts to minimise them. The UK has a legally binding commitment to meet reductions in carbon dioxide emissions through the Climate Change Act. An option, in that Act, allows us to meet our targets through the purchase of carbon credits/offsets. Project 1: As a global problem, requiring global solutions, the possibilities for offsetting are unlimited. Follow the link to view details of 100 offset providers and more than 1000 different projects, from tree planting to windpower, from Europe to China, from £2 per Tonne to £50. If this seems like a daunting task, leave it to us. Just indicate you preferences when you are setting up your account and we will respond with a specific project or list which meets your requirements. Project 2: Where possible, we would like to support carbon offsetting projects in the UK. We are actively seeking UK businesses which require additional funding to reach completion or to expand. Click the link to get in touch. Project 3: If every house in the UK had the correct level of loft insulation, we would save 4 million Tonnes of CO2 every year and £700 million in power bills. Fitting water tank jackets would save 3/4 million Tonnes and £132 million. Have you voluntarily installed energy saving measures? Click the link, let us know. It all counts towards reducing our time to neutrality. In order to create your carbon neutral target, track your contributions and preferred offset project we require to set you up with an account. |
